The name Salamba Shirshasana comes from the Sanskrit words Sālamba meaning "supported", Śīrṣa meaning "head",and Āsana meaning "posture" or "seat"
It is called Shirshasana because of the force of the head. Shirshasana is an asana by the practice of which we always stay away from many major diseases. However this asana is quite difficult. It is not comfortable for everyone. From Shirshasana our digestive system stays good, blood circulation stays smooth. The body receives strength.
